The Washington Nationals’ Long Road to the World Series Championship

​The Montreal Expos joined Major League Baseball (MLB) in 1969. In 2005, the franchise moved to Washington, DC, and changed its name to the Washington Nationals. The team has made six playoff appearances since 1969 but has managed just one pennant victory. Fortunately, the franchise’s lone World Series berth yielded a championship. Like many expansion teams in professional sports, the team has endured many ups and downs.
